Saving Money Isn’t Always the principal Goal
There is a lot to think about and consider when you’re starting up your business. You’re going to be worried about the price tag on the different things you need. Your web page will come with a price. Marketing and advertising will take money from you too. Hiring someone to help you operate things will probably cost much more money. You could be tempted to cut a number of corners. It is most likely that you are planning to be trying to figure out at least a few different ways that you can cut costs but sometimes doing this can hurt you. You might get extremely hurt. The area that it affects you the most is when you violate copyright and intellectual property laws. Here are some examples.
Stealing website designs. Downloading a free theme or utilizing a cost-free website builder is one thing. Fully taking someone else’s design, however, is not advisable. Obviously the internet is a giant place and it isn’t very likely that the original designer is ever going to be made aware of your theft but that doesn’t mean that you should take the chance. If you’re keen on the design and want to use it for your own site, have you thought to contact the designer and site owner and ask for permission to either use the same design for your own site or to request the designer how much to design something for you?
Using pictures and images without permission. Just because the photo or graphic appears on a Google image search does not mean that the image or photo is public domain. Google indexes images and links to the first internet site that displays it. This is okay. Using the artwork or photograph on your own site without obtaining permission from the creator or owner, however, is a violation of copyright law. You could possibly be sued by the owner if he or she ever discovers about it. Always ask the owner of the photo for permission before you use the image. You might wind up having to pay some money but it’ll be worth it if you can push away legal action. If your finances are low, you can always hunt for free images or images released with the Creative Commons licenses that allow people to use images commercially. Those are absolutely fine for the public to use.
Stealing another individual’s written content. If you would like to employ someone else’s content on your own website it is vital that you give the original writer credit. If the content you use is from another website, it is essential that you make sure you put up a link to that site. This will help you get the primary writer to like you. If you do not offer credit or hyperlinks to the original author, you can get in huge trouble for copyright infringement and intellectual property theft. These cost a lot more than you would pay an individual to make original content for you or the links from your site to the original.
It is obviously far better to err on the side of caution when it comes to building your business. Saving money is naturally something you wish to do but just make sure that you save it legally. When you don’t, the cost you could be facing will be much more than it would have been otherwise. To learn more visit us here.
